Travel and What to Bring Information
Clothing
Due to fluctuations in temperature, August sheep hunts can range from 80 degrees down to 20 and snow. We recommend you layer your clothing to accommodate those temperature swings. Two pairs of well-worn walking boots and 3 changes of clothing should be sufficient, and a peaked cap or hat is a must. Good quality rain gear and wool clothing are recommended for moose and caribou hunts. Lightweight and heavy gloves are also suggested.
Insurance
Hunters assist at their own risk and can contract an individual insurance company of their choice.
Indemnity
Big game hunting is a potentially hazardous sport, and while all reasonable precautions are taken to ensure the safety of our clients, we cannot be held responsible for any illness or accident while on your hunt.
Booking and Payment
You will need to provide your personal information to our office 90 days before your hunt so we may obtain the necessary permits.
1 year ahead reservation: A 50% reservation deposit is required at the booking date; the rest must be paid at least 60 days before the hunt scheduled date.
Hunt Key Points
We require 50% of the price per/hunter's non-refundable deposit to book a hunt.
We will try to provide you with the highest quality hunt possible.
This is not a guaranteed hunt, and you may go home empty-handed.
If the game (sheep, moose, caribou, goat, bear, etc.) is wounded (i.e. blood, hair, meat, or bone is found), the hunt is restricted to the animal shot. If not found, the hunter must still pay the appropriate kill fees. We will make every effort within a reasonable time to locate a wounded animal.
Travel
Ask your travel agent to book you to Whitehorse, Yukon, from there you will catch a local charter into camp or Vancouver, British Columbia to clear customs and then on to Smithers, or Terrace British Columbia, where you will rent a car for the 7 hour drive to Dease Lake. Once you arrive in Dease Lake, you will be met by our staff and stay at the hotel to prepare for your morning flight into camp. Due to weather conditions, this may be delayed until the early afternoon or the following day.
We are not responsible for lost or delayed luggage or weapons during your travel. When making your air travel reservations, please ensure enough time between one departure and the next. Commonly, sometimes your luggage can be separated from you, making you lose one day of hunting while trying to retrieve your luggage. These extra travels from the hunting area and the airport are an extra expense that is not included in our package.
Weapons
It is recommended that you bring your weapons. Weapons are inspected upon entry at the airport, and you will have to fill out a form at the customs desk and pay a gun importation fee.
Please ensure that you receive a valid customs declaration form from customs in your own country to ensure the reimportation of weapons on your return. Have all your firearms' serial numbers on hand to avoid problems at customs.
Equipment
Here is a brief list of gear to bring.
Please limit your gear to 50 lbs which include your rifle.
Any additional weight will be subjected to Additional Charges.
